Climate action can help industries with heavy vehicles

The transition to electric vehicles is moving rapidly, which means that industries that operate with heavy vehicles, for example, are facing new challenges and investments. To support the development and investment in fossil-free future technology, Naturvårdsverket runs the investment support Klimatklivet, which can be applied for by companies, municipalities, regions and organizations throughout Sweden.

Svensk Fordonsladdning helps you with your grant application to Klimatklivet. We take you through the entire application process - from start to finish.

Transition and the challenges it brings

According to a scenario analysis conducted by Trafikverket, the number of electric trucks over 3.5 tons, which use stationary charging, is expected to amount to over 70,000 individual vehicles by 2040.

The results of a government commission show that the lack of national charging infrastructure for stationary charging is an obstacle to the electrification of heavy trucks.

The Swedish government has assessed that national access to charging infrastructure is a prerequisite for electrification of the vehicle fleet and that the expansion of charging infrastructure should take place at such a pace that it does not become an obstacle to electrification of the transport sector.

Stationary charging infrastructure for heavy-duty vehicles needs to be developed in the near future in order not to counteract this development.

Transport sector particularly important as climate investment

Naturvårdsverket sees particularly high potential for climate investments that reduce emissions in the transport sector, among others.

In its scenario analysis for electrification, Trafikverket reports that it is possible to achieve a substantial reduction in climate emissions through stationary charging. Through a combination of stationary charging and a gradually higher proportion of renewable fuels, up to 85% of greenhouse gas emissions from heavy vehicles can be eliminated.

If you are interested in building public vehicle charging or for your own business, there are good opportunities to get investment support from Klimatklivet.
