Transportverket's investment support for public charging stations applies to fast charging for electric vehicles along major roads.
In June 2020, the government adopted a decree regulating that Trafikverket is tasked with deciding on the payment of state aid for the deployment of public fast charging stations where they are not otherwise built.
The support can be applied for by private and publicly owned companies and can amount to a maximum of SEK 25 million per application and project.
The support could be applied for by businesses, municipalities, municipal companies, etc. for the expansion of public charging stations for fast charging of electric vehicles in connection with major roads.
The starting point for the selection of routes is the functionally prioritized road network for long-distance passenger travel defined by Trafikverket.
On this basis, an overview has been made of where there is no access to fast charging infrastructure. It is these 'white routes' that will be covered. For a route to be white, it must lack DC charging of 150 kW or more and there must be more than 10 miles between existing fast charging stations.
On European roads and major national roads (TEN-T core and comprehensive road network), the route should lack DC charging of 150 kW or more and there should be more than six miles between existing fast charging stations.
In the review, fast charging stations that have previously been granted state aid are assumed to be built and seen as an existing charging station. The state grants support to fast charging stations via Naturvårdsverket, Energimyndigheten and Trafikverket.
Before choosing the number of routes to be advertised, Trafikverket has made a prioritization based on traffic flow, where the white road sections with the lowest traffic flow have been prioritized. If funds remain after the spring call, we will conduct a supplementary call in the fall.
In the maps, the black lines show which roads are covered by fast charging and the white lines mark roads without fast charging.
