Elektrifieringspiloter by Energimyndigheten

Elektrifieringspiloter is the Swedish Energy Agency's initiative for an expanded charging network along Swedish roads for heavy transport. We can help you get support and become part of the development.

Both installation and upgrades

Support can be given to companies and public sector actors wishing to carry out both new installations and upgrades of public charging stations intended for heavy transport in semi-public places (terminals, warehouses, recycling centres or similar places that are open to access by all transport operators that have a business at the site). A certain part of the support can also go to energy storage linked to the charging station.

As part of the pilot concept, the charging station is kept in operation for at least 5 years and during the same period is available for evaluation and information gathering. Energimyndigheten has the right to share experiences from the pilot to promote knowledge transfer to other regional and national actors.

Through three different calls for proposals, the Swedish Energy Agency is offering support to companies and public sector actors who wish to install new charging stations and upgrade existing ones for heavy transport vehicles used for loading and unloading, along white routes and along the TEN-T road network and in larger cities. A certain portion of the support may also go toward energy storage connected to the charging station.

How much support can you get?

In this year's call, you can receive support for 20-50% of your so-called eligible costs.
The level of support is:

  • 20% for large companies
  • 40% for medium-sized companies
  • 50% for small companies

Projects in more sparsely populated areas of the country can receive an additional 5% support.

Call for proposals: Regional electrification pilots for heavy transport

The Swedish Energy Agency is allocating a maximum of SEK 400 million for the expansion of charging infrastructure for heavy road transport at terminals, warehouses, recycling centers, and similar locations.

Call for proposals: Increased coverage of public charging infrastructure for heavy-duty vehicles

The Swedish Energy Agency is announcing a maximum of SEK 110 million in support for the expansion of charging infrastructure for heavy road transport along white routes.

The call for proposals applies to investments along white routes where there is no or only partial charging infrastructure for heavy transport. The aid may cover a maximum of 70 percent of eligible costs.

Call for proposals: Establishment and upgrading of public charging stations along major roads and in cities

The Swedish Energy Agency is announcing a maximum of SEK 490 million in support for the expansion of charging infrastructure that contributes to capacity development for heavy transport.

Support can be sought along the entire TEN-T road network and in certain selected major cities. The Swedish Energy Agency provides support of up to 55-70 percent.

The support can be applied for by private and publicly owned companies and can amount to a maximum of SEK 25 million per application and project.

Criteria

Submit an application in 2025.

For the 2025 call, Energimyndigheten will accept bids for projects that are able to be completed by 30 September 2028 and remain in operation for at least 5 years. The deadline for applications is 25 June 2025. The level of support is an assessment criterion when competing for the support funds. Energimyndigheten therefore encourages that projects should apply for a lower level of support where possible.

Finding the right balance in an effective application for support can be complicated and time-consuming. To get help with your application, contact us and we will go through it together.
